Meet Our CASAS : Jane Fisher
Jane Fisher has been a CASA Volunteer for seven years. Jane discusses below reasons for becoming a CASA Volunteer, and what motivates her as a CASA Volunteer.
Why did you decide to become a CASA?
Jane’s Response: When I retired from teaching, I wanted to do a volunteer activity that would benefit children. I had done Foster Care for 11 years when my children were younger, so I was intrigued with the role of a CASA worker.
What do you like best about being a CASA?
Jane’s Response: I like being a part of a team that is working to improve the odds for children to become happy adults. I enjoy meeting with my CASA children and finding out their dreams for the future.
How many CASA cases have you had?
Jane’s Response: I am working on my 5th case.
Tell us one of your most meaningful experiences as a CASA?
Jane’s Response: I was extremely happy when one of my CASA children found a perfect family to become a part of. He now has a chance for a life full of happiness & opportunities.
What has being a CASA taught you?
Jane’s Response: CASA has taught me that there are many people who want the best for our children. The Case Workers, Guardians, Therapists, & Judges all want to make life better for the children & are willing to give their time & energy to help them.
What keeps you motivated as a CASA?
Jane’s Response: Every CASA case is different & I like the challenge of Making a Difference in Children’s lives.
