Life Stories is happy to announce that CASA of Weld County will be piloting a new model to our CASA Program called Peer Coordination. This model will train seasoned, experienced CASA Volunteers to support other CASA Volunteers, giving us the ability to increase capacity with only modest increases to the program budget. Peer Coordination is already in operation at many CASA programs with great success.

The Peer Coordinator is a specifically trained CASA volunteer that uses their volunteer time to provide coaching and support to other CASA Volunteers ensuring that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and effective permanency planning. The Peer Coordinator continues to be under the direction of a staff CASA supervisor, so now the case becomes a team of three instead of two. As the program grows, we will increase our ability to serve more children each year.  In Fiscal Year 2020-2021, our program served 258 children; nearly 1,000 more children are still on our waiting list. The CASA program currently serves about 25% of the children who could have a CASA volunteer.
