How long have you been on the Life Stories Board?
7 Years
What initially drew you to Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy, and why did you decide to join the board?
My first experience was attending a Gala for A Kid’s Place years ago with my husband who is a prosecutor for Weld County. I knew a lot about crimes against children of abuse and neglect through his experiences and the far reaching impact that can have on children and their families. The services provided by Life Stories are so important in order to support children and their families through traumatic events. I felt compelled to get involved as I believe in their mission and wanted to serve the community and the organization.
What role do you believe Life Stories plays in our community, and why is that important to you?
Life Stories plays a critical role for children and families, providing needed support through traumatic events and resources. Life Stories also works hard to raise awareness on how to recognize and respond to child abuse. It’s important to me because children must be protected; they are our future and we as a community are responsible to stand up and ensure that happens.
“Children have a right to a happy, healthy and safe environment. But when that doesn’t happen and they are victims of abuse or neglect and experience traumatic events, they need support along with their families. Life Stories provides the care and professional support needed to navigate through that challenging journey. ”
