As we celebrated 20 years of service for abused and neglected children, we reflected as an agency, about what A Kid’s Place means to our community. Discussions ensued, reflecting on what we have accomplished in the past to what the community will need from us in the future. The need for our services continues to grow and we, in turn, will grow and evolve to meet those needs. From those discussions, and as we developed a new website, we realized a name change was the next logical step. Before we reveal the name, we want to express to you all why we chose it.
We chose our new name because we felt that it is unique, succinctly summarizes and unites our programs, and can be a driving force in our next decades of work. Our message remains the same: children who experience abuse and neglect deserve our attention, advocacy, and support. In the process of rebranding, we realized stories are a crucial piece of this organization. Our forensic interviewers, family advocates, and CASA staff and volunteers all hear stories of abuse and neglect daily. The child victims who tell these stories need caring adults to listen to them, a safe space to tell their story, and the resources necessary to overcome the trauma they faced and go on to live a healthy future. Working together, we hope to enable them to turn their life stories into ones of strength and hope.
Our new agency name is
Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy
As we transition to our new name we promise to create a responsive community where every life story is honored and valued as we advocate for children and families with compassion and respect. Our new name and website will be effective January 9th. Current emails will continue to work for 6 months. Please look for more information through email and on our Face Book page in the new year as we transition to Life Stories. Legally we will still be A Kid’s Place, Inc. but we will be doing business as Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy.
